A resonator or hot dog as it is known in the industry, is a “mini muffler”. This is typically used to help to reduce noise in exhaust systems. It also changes the note that is heard from the exhaust system which many enthusiasts prefer. These hotdog resonators are constructed from high quality aluminized mild steel and feature a high flow perforated inner lining.  They are designed as a “straight-through” system which does not restrict the flow of exhaust gases, but does lessen the noise when compared to straight pipe. They are commonly used on sports systems, but are also used widely on standard exhaust systems.
